MR. PORTER FEATURES ACTOR AND RAPPER JADEN SMITH IN THE JOURNAL

Writer Alex Frank pens a profile on Jaden Smith for the latest edition of Mr. Porter’s digital magazine. The 23 year old son of actors Will and Jada Pinkett Smith is also the designer of fashion brand MSFTSrep, which he started with his sister, Willow, and some friends ten years ago. The brand’s latest collection (which launches on Mr. Porter this week), is called Trippy Summer, and features kaleidoscopic hues and imagery, inspired by Smith’s interest in psychedelic mushrooms.

“I believe that mushrooms are going to help us expand consciousness,” Smith says in the interview. “The collection is not just clothes to sell. It’s loaded with spiritual experiences and mystical states. We’re just making clothes that can go along with people’s journeys.”

The interview goes on to ask about how the collection might affect somebody who is tripping, what it feels like to be on mushrooms, as well as Smith’s own experiences with psilocybin and how it affects his designs. He also talks about his meeting with President Barack Obama.
