MR. SLOWBOY ILLUSTRATES A POP-UP MENSWEAR BOOK FOR SEBAGO ANNIVERSARY

by Stephen Garner

Sebago is celebrating its first 75th anniversary with a pop-up book, the first such book dedicated to men’s fashion.

Inside the book is a journey through the history of American and global menswear written in English and beautifully illustrated by Mr. Slowboy, whose drawings literally jump out of the pages in all their colorful mastery. The Anglo-Chinese artist Fai Wang, who also created Sebago‘s spring/summer 2021 campaign, was born in Peking and now resides in London since 2015. He has a passion for the classic Ivy League look, made famous by the eight most prestigious American universities where students in the Fifties adopted Sebago‘s penny loafers as a must-have fashion item.

Since the Fifties, it has been a succession of new products manufactured with vintage artisan processes including tanning and manual sewing. Docksides appeared in the Seventies, iconic boating shoes used for the most important sailing competitions in the world, which would later become the shoes in preppy fashion, adopted in Italy by the historic Paninari.
