PRADA PRESENTS ITS POST-PANDEMIC VIEW OF MENSWEAR

A Sardinian shore and Fondazione Prada’s Deposito served as the backdrop for the luxury Italian brand’s new spring/summer 2022 menswear collection. Instead of its typical runway show, Prada chose to exhibit this season’s line through a film as part of Milan Fashion Week Men’s.

Imagined as an uncanny, post-COVID, summer escape, models are seen meandering down a red tunnel eventually ending up along the beach in Sardinia, Italy – undoubtedly a metaphor for people re-entering society after the pandemic.

The latest collection from fashion dream team Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons highlight the unsure notions of how to dress post-pandemic. Models are seen wearing suit jackets with short shorts – an item made popular this year by that infamous post-gym photo of actor Milo Ventimiglia. The chic disheveled looks continue with rompers, tank tops, oversized trousers, chunky dress shoes, lots of black socks, and the brand’s newest take on bucket hats.

And, in appreciation of, and thanks to, the Sardinian community, Prada is supporting the MEDSEA Foundation in its project to restore marine ecosystems with the reforestation of ‘Posidonia oceanica’ meadows in the marine protected area of ‘Capo Carbonara.’ Posidonia oceanica is a marine plant endemic to the Mediterranean Sea, providing an important habitat for marine species and playing a crucial role in absorbing CO2 to help mitigate climate change.
