In celebration of 50 years of the Ralph Lauren brand, the company is taking its wearable technology innovation to the next-level by introducing new performance features with its new limited-edition space suit-inspired Polo 11 Heated Jacket and Glacier Down Jacket. As an evolution of the heated outerwear technology first developed for Ralph Lauren’s Olympic athlete apparel, these new outerwear pieces feature an updated heating component — controlled via Bluetooth through the new RL Heat app.

This next phase of pioneering tech apparel features a heat-dispersive silver lining with an American flag printed in conductive carbon and silver ink. Powered by a slim Mophie battery that plugs into the jacket’s inside pocket with adjustable warming levels, the heat will last up to three hours at its highest level. In addition to controlling the temperature gauge, the app also displays the current weather outside. Mophie power banks come with the jacket for charging, however any certified USB power-source can power the garment.

The first iteration of the heated outerwear arrives this month, featuring the Limited-Edition Polo 11 Jacket. The Polo 11 Jacket is a modern interpretation of the white iconic Polo Jeans parka from 1997 which was inspired by the pressure suits worn on space missions throughout the 20th century. The jacket quickly become an incredible success, eventually reaching the status of an iconic collector’s item.  The brand is now bringing back the infamous parka, and updating it with its state-of-the-art heat technology, merging fashion and function in the most pinnacle way.

Additionally, with the release of the Limited-Edition Polo 11 Jacket, a more widely available parka will be introduced – the Glacier Down Jacket. Offered in both navy and silver, the Glacier outerwear piece has all of the heating components the Polo 11 Jacket has, however this is the first-time consumers will be able to purchase the exclusive heated technology across many points of distribution globally.

Polo 11 will be sold on the Polo App in the U.S., www.ralphlauren.com in Europe and China, WeChat in Asia, as well as at select Ralph Lauren stores and specialty stores globally. The Glacier Down Jacket will be sold on the Polo App in the U.S., www.ralphlauren.com in Europe and China, Ralph Lauren stores globally, as well as at several wholesale retailers internationally.
