SAMUELSOHN EXPANDS ITS ‘VUE’ COLLECTION

by Stephen Garner

Samuelsohn has expanded its VUE collection after a successful recent launch.

The brand predicts a growing demand for hybrid clothing with corporations such as UBS, Citigroup, TIAA, and law firms such as Allen & Overy, announcing a hybrid executive work schedule with a mix of in-office and work-from-home (WFH) days.

“We’ve decided to aggressively expand VUE after seeing terrific adoption of the collection by retailers who have responded strongly to the versatility and timeliness of the designs,” said Stephen Granovsky, CEO of Luxury Men’s Apparel Group (LMAG). “Our sales have been strong and we’ve sold out of a number of items. We plan to push through this window of opportunity to position Samuelsohn as a go-to resource in independent stores and as an exciting new resource for doors like Nordstrom.”

Moreover, the collection offers independent stores – who have faced a particularly challenging time – a low-risk, low-investment collection designed to compel their premium consumers to increase expenditure and invest in clothing that is versatile and appropriate to the way they live now. Try-ons are displayed with collateral explaining size and fabric choices from which clothing can be ordered for delivery to the store or directly to the consumer’s home in a matter of days. Dropship is also available for a store’s e-commerce operation, synching seamlessly with Samuelsohn’s enterprise system.

Set up as a rolling selling program, VUE is merchandised narrow and deep allowing retailers ongoing selling opportunities.

“The entire collection is designed to mix and layer based on the day’s activities – whether it’s the knit separates as we ease back into an office day or overshirt and drawstring pant for a WFH day,” added Aliya Morehead, creative director at Samuelsohn. “It creates a seamless rhythm of fashion and offers lots of comfort without sacrificing style.”

The collection is anchored by knit separates and each season offers additional layering pieces. For Spring 2022 that includes a light knit vest (gilet style), a light utility jacket, and an overshirt – all as alternatives to a lapelled jacket. Knits are offered as drawstring shorts, short-sleeve button-down shirts, and a pop-over shirt.

Spring 2022 will also debut the Tech Suit – a fashion-forward silhouette featuring a single pleat pant and an unconstructed jacket. The luxe stretch fabric by Loro Piana is a Super 130s/silk/nylon blend that breathes and offers four-way stretch. The suit will be sold in two tonal plaids and four solid colors.
