Tokidoki, the pop culture lifestyle brand meaning “sometimes” in Japanese, celebrated its collaboration with industry-leading furniture and design company Kartell on Thursday, September 21 at the Kartell flagship store in SoHo.

The Tokidoki x Kartell collaboration is an innovative twist on Kartell’s iconic Louis Ghost chair and Lou Lou Ghost’s children’s chair, designed by Philippe Starck in 2002 and 2008, respectively. Tokidoki’s co-founder and chief creative officer Simone Legno’s original artwork is showcased on the chairs, creating an interesting blend of iconic design combined with fashion forward artistry.

“To collaborate with not only a leading pioneer in furniture, but with one of the most iconic Italian design companies is something I have always dreamt of,” said Legno. “A true career highlight.”

“Art and design collaborations are a core component of Tokidoki’s brand history,” added Pooneh Mohajer, co-founder and CEO of Tokidoki. “I am thrilled with how Kartell’s iconic design, coupled with Tokidoki’s unique aesthetic, has resulted in a chair that is truly a compelling work of art.”

“It’s a delight to be part of this artistic collaboration with Tokidoki,” commented Lorenza Luti, marketing director for Kartell. “Tokidokiʼs personalized design on Kartellʼs classic Louis Ghost chair contributes to Kartellʼs continuous integration of art in furniture design while encouraging the expression of creativity, technology and beauty.”

The forthcoming collection is available at tokidoki.it and at the Kartell flagships in New York and Miami.
