SCHMOOZING: ORLEBAR BROWN’S ROOFTOP COCKTAIL PARTY

[metaslider id=115045] London-based luxury swimwear brand Orlebar Brown launched its spring 2017 collection with its first ever NYFW: Men’s presentation at Manhattan’s new property, Sky, located at 605 W42nd Street developed by the Moinian Group.

To celebrate the new collection, a cocktail party was held on the Life Time Athletic rooftop pool deck. Guests including Graham Norton, Bruce Pask, Eric Jennings, Monsieur Jerome, Jim Moore and Robert di Mauro sipped on Moët Ice Imperial, the first champagne created to be served on ice, as models showcased key pieces from spring/summer 2017.

The collection was inspired by the carefree and chaotic elegance of artist Pablo Picasso at work in the mid-20th Century and the easy sartorialism of the clothes he chose to wear. Picasso’s life in Cannes, on the beach surrounded by his beautiful muse Françoise Gilot and his inimitable studio style, informed the overall aesthetic. Imbued with a louche spirit, the palette embraces the washed-out tones of Picasso’s rose and blue periods.

Orlebar Brown’s classic Photographic Editions also jumped into a new territory with contemporary photos in bleached tones and abstract locations. Working with photographers Kirsty Lee, Henry Lederer, Dennis Hallinan and a vintage postcard from John Hindes collection, the photographic editions capture the hazy romance of the summer.
