It was a fabulous evening under the stars hosted by Victorinox last night at the NoMad Hotel Rooftop to reinforce one of the brand’s fundamental design concepts: Digital Meets Modern Craft. Victorinox Global Apparel CEO Jason Gallen introduced a new collaboration with furniture designer Stephen Kenn, who presented three new pieces he created to exemplify the Victorinox design philosophy. “They gave me carte blanche to come up with something relevant: the only parameters were that it be beautiful, functional and in tune with the brand philosophy of solving problems via innovation. I started out by playing with a Swiss Army knife, studying how the designs changed with the positioning of the blades. I came up with three multi-functional pieces: a chair that converts to a stepladder, a desk that converts to a coffee table and storage cubes with different surfaces that can serve numerous needs. I strive to make furniture that is worthy of repair rather than disposable. I believe there is beauty in the chips and scratches and that good furniture improves with use.”

I feel fortunate to work for a private company that allows us to grow organically. It’s not about the fast dollar; it’s about communicating our message to those retailers who know us for our knives, watches and bags and are just learning about the exceptional fashion and function in our apparel.”
