SEBAGO AND UNIVERSAL WORKS TEAM ON NEW CAPSULE

by Stephen Garner

Sebago and Universal Works have teamed up again for spring/summer 2020 on a new capsule collection.

Featuring three contemporary boating shoes and two canvas styles, the collaboration sees the creation of a capsule collection inspired by Native American culture.

Focusing on the Docksides label, the Portland boat shoes, which come in a vibrant straw yellow as well as white/grey and brown, have been re-mastered by Universal Works founder, David Keyte, using the art of contrasting fabrics and colors to create a ‘beautiful mistake’. The shoes are made in suede leather, featuring fringes at the base of the tongue as well as thick visible stitching.

The two new canvas shoes, one a version of the Jack slip-ons and the other, the John boating sneakers, are also from the Sebago Docksides collection. The first style includes vibrant colors as an homage to the weaves and patterns of blankets made by natives in New Mexico; the other produced with the “Ikat” technique – a dyeing process inherited from the pre-Columbian population of Peru.

This latest launch will be available via The Universal Works website and in its four stores, as well as 50 additional multi-brands stores, which will roll out in the upcoming weeks.
