SOCIETY NYC: A NEW WAY TO DRESS, A NEW WAY TO SHOP!
There’s clearly a new way to dress infiltrating the menswear market, a luxurious layered look that appears a bit thrown together but, in the right colors, textures and relaxed shapes, totally works. This new look, a fresh take on Italian sprezzatura (and a mix between sartorial and casual) gives men many creative ways to express themselves, and merchants new opportunities to beat last year’s record-breaking sales.

Key to this eclectic look: men’s accessories! Unique precious and semi-precious jewelry, whimsical neckwear, statement hats, scarves, gloves, belts and fabulous footwear are no longer afterthoughts. I especially loved the distinctive jewelry designs from Robert Tateossian (with accents of yellow gold and stones that promise spiritual well-being) and Marco Dal Maso’s incredible lapel pins and pendants, some with sustainable man-made diamonds.
I found marvelous hats at Christys’ London, cool footwear at Carlos Santos, beautiful shirts from R2 Amsterdam (organic cottons, washable wools with a touch of stretch), and a fresh take on luxury sportswear at Left Coast Tee/Collab. I loved the brightly colored hooded jackets at Hublot Mode Marine (wholesales from $39-$98 for a 2-in-1 model), gorgeous resortwear and bags at SMR Days, beautiful cashmeres at Adesi, sophisticated skiwear at Chervo, well-priced knits in soft organic fleece and sustainable terry from Portugal at JEF, anti-microbial polos made with crab shells and jadestone at HyperNatural, and the plushest robes/loungewear at Majestic (robes wholesale at $38 for a $95 retail; lounge sets packaged top and bottom for a $75 retail. Looking for good prices and margins in sportswear: check out the collection at Luchiano Visconti! Looking for beautiful knits in perfect fall colors? Check out Lenor Romano’s best-ever collection! For beautifully woven belts and bags out of Italy: Massimiliano D’Ambrosi has great ones. All this and more signaling a strong selling season come fall.
Says SOCIETY VP Coleman McCarten, “For this fall/winter edition of SOCIETY, we brought together carefully vetted, commercially viable domestic and international brands plus a group of highly respected agents and showrooms. We’re very happy with the results from this, our second edition, and look forward to continued growth.”
