SUPERPLASTIC STUDIOS’ LAUNCH APPAREL CAPSULE WITH TOMMY HILFIGER TO CELEBRATE 50 YEARS OF HIP HOP.

by John Russel Jones

Superplastic, the creator of the world’s first social-media-driven animated character universe, teamed up with pioneer of classic American style, Tommy Hilfiger, owned by PVH Corp., to commemorate 50 years of hip-hop. To celebrate, the company’s hit animated hip-hop duo Ghost Kidz launched a limited-edition apparel capsule with TOMMY JEANS while simultaneously dropping their latest hit single and music video, “Big Bag,” featuring rap superstar Armani Caesar of Griselda Records.

Ghost Kidz made their debut this past July at the Rolling Loud Music Festival in Miami, where the duo skyrocketed into hip-hop history with a surprise stage takeover and improvised performance before headliner Lil Uzi Vert’s final set. Since then, Ghost Kidz stars Filth-E & Lil’ Ill have earned a growing following of fanatic music fans on Tik-Tok thanks to their first collaboration with rap legend Vince Staples.

Along with the drop of their third single, “Big Bag,” Ghost Kidz and TOMMY JEANS are celebrating 50 years of hip-hop with an apparel line celebrating moments of ‘90s style and reworking them for today. Highlights include a crewneck ($119.00), long-sleeve shirt ($69.50), and a t-shirt ($59.50) crafted from 50% organic cotton/50% cotton, all featuring the Tommy flag emblazoned with the Ghost Kidz emblem. The “Big Bag” video features Ghost Kidz decked out in Tommy while being chased through NYC by a magical giant squid that transforms into superstar Armani Caesar, who is also featured in the song.

“The Tommy Hilfiger team is insanely amazing,” says Superplastic’s Chief Development Officer, Ioana Banu. “They’re always pushing the envelope, so it’s no surprise they teamed up with Ghost Kidz and their wonderful musical madness.”

This collection continues the legendary collaboration between the two brands that rocked last year’s New York Fashion Week, where Tommy Hilfiger, in an industry first, produced a virtual fashion show livestreamed to the global Roblox community. The show starred Superplastic’s popular animated celebrities Janky, Guggimon & Dayzee, who walked the runway in TOMMY PLAY wearing the Tommy x Richard Quinn collection. The immersive fashion was nominated by the Webby Awards for “Best Partnership or Collaboration.”

The capsule is available online at superplastic.co and the Superplastic Store in NYC at 15 Prince Street.

Created by artist Paul Budnitz (Kidrobot, Ello, Budnitz Bicycles), Superplastic is the owner and creator of the world’s first massively popular animated character universe launched on social media.
