TAYLOR STITCH + MARMOT TEAM UP TO CREATE THE 1971 COLLECTION

by John Russel Jones

Taylor Stitch is proud to announce an exclusive collaboration with Marmot. The two brands have teamed up to build a six-piece limited edition capsule of technically capable gear. Aptly titled The 1971 Collection, the entire range is inspired by and harkens back to the free-wheeling early days of the outdoor brand’s fabled Marmot Club.

“You can’t argue Marmot’s multi-decade heritage of championing fun outdoors. When the opportunity to work with them arose, it was an easy quick jump for us to hop on board. We’ve always been big fans of their outerwear especially; it was amazing to work beside them to develop this exclusive capsule,” says Luke Mcalpine, VP of Brand for Taylor Stitch.

More than fifty years ago, UC Santa Cruz students Eric Reynolds and Dave Huntley returned to California after two months of Alaskan glacier hiking with the idea of building an all-inclusive community of fellow outdoor enthusiasts. That idea spawned on an ice shelf 2,300 miles away, would become the founding of The Marmot Club. Soon after, Eric and Dave took to crafting their outdoor gear out of their UC dorm room, and the launch of Marmot Mountain Works then followed.

The 1971 Collection is an ode to those free-spirited glory days of exploration. Nostalgic design meets updated technical ability—this limited-edition collection is crafted with an emphasis on environmental responsibility, high-quality technical performance, and timeless style. While designs may wear their vintage influence on their sleeves, the run of innovations that Marmot has made since the ’70s imbues each piece with both grit and technical ability to meet the demands of today’s outdoor explorers.

From the feature-rich Owens Parka with its multi-layer Gore-Tex membrane (a first for Taylor Stitch) to the insulative Trail Fleece and Scramble Pant, this collection is designed to go from any outdoor adventure to après downtime with friends without skipping a beat. Other pieces include a woven shirt, a rugby shirt, and an organic cotton graphic T-shirt. The collection retails from $50 to $348.
