TENNIS, ANYONE? MAXFIELD X CASABLANCA SERVE UP A COACHELLA COLLECTION

by Christopher Blomquist

Casablanca, the après-sport luxury menswear label founded by French Moroccan creative director Charaf Tajer, launched a capsule collection and retail pop-up at Maxfield in Los Angeles today. The experiential installation, which is set up in the specialty retailer’s parking lot, is an interactive and immersive tennis court that displays the 17-piece collection inspired by the forthcoming Coachella Valley Arts and Music Festival that kicks off on Friday and runs through Sunday, April 21.

The limited edition offering and accompanying pop-up will be available to Maxfield customers – both physical and online – until April 25. The apparel encompasses silk shirt and short hookups, T-shirts and caps. The shorts are inspired by retro tennis styles and the accompanying tops feature graphics of fruit-tree branches. The items retail for $85 to $730.

Paris-based Casablanca debuted its first collection, for spring/summer 2019, last November and showed its autumn/winter 2019 collection at Paris Fashion Week in January. Tajer ran the now shuttered Parisian nightclub Le Pompon prior to launching the brand.
