‘THE BEAR’ JACKET BY NN.07 IS BACK FOR A GLOBAL RELEASE

by John Russel Jones

Actor Jeremy Allen White became a sort of everyman fashion icon almost from the moment Hulu’s award-winning series The Bear debuted in 2022.  First called out for his character “Carmy” Berzatto’s seemingly innocuous white T-shirts (of course they weren’t from a discount store 3-pack, but were credited to German maker Merz B. Schwanen at around 100 bucks a pop: So much for egalitarian appeal.), White also had an internet-breaking moment earlier this year when he was featured in a new campaign for Calvin Klein underwear.

The show is set in Chicago, and the cast can’t be expected to run around in their undershirts all the time, so Carmy has also been spotted wearing some equally low-key, yet stylish outerwear; the Gael jacket by NN.07.

Since the show’s release, the brand has experienced an unprecedented interest in the style that was originally discontinued in 2021. In March 2023, NN.07 served up the first limited restock, which sold out in minutes, as did a second in December.

With thousands of newsletter sign-ups, daily restock requests, and features in GQ, Hypebeast, and Complex, NN.07 is now reintroducing the iconic patchwork jacket into its core line.

The Gael jacket has become so popular that of course there have been multiple knock-offs, but they are clearly using the wrong recipe: The original is made in a yarn-dyed patchwork pattern, and crafted in a heavily brushed wool blend. The original is set to release in autumn 2024, and will only be made available to a limited selection of retailers. Consumers can sign up for first access via nn07.com.
