The Sam Smith–Approved Label Shaking Up The Suiting World

Compared to the rest of the menswear scene, where bold experimentation is running at an all-time high, a suit is still one of the few garments for which a classic, no-frills aesthetic is still highly favored. (There’s a reason the bespoke tailors on Savile Row are still considered the best of the best.) But the tides are slowly turning: Louis Vuitton’s Virgil Abloh offered a boldly printed take on the suit. One brand joining the cause is Mans, and it’s already caught the eye of stylish celebrities such as Sam Smith. Mans is the two-year-old menswear label by Jaime Álvarez, who originates from La Luisiana in Seville, Spain, but is currently based in Madrid. He applies a soft-boy touch to rigid tailoring. His latest fall 2020 collection, inspired by the city of Paris, aims to challenge ideas around masculine fashion. The designs include double-breasted suits in pastel pinks or purples worn with sheer, feathery tops or silk-bowed blouses that give them a romantic feel. Even the more classic styles feel modern, thanks to wide-leg trousers or blazers with cropped hems. Read more at Vogue.
