TODD SNYDER OPENS SECOND NEW YORK STORE

by Stephen Garner

Menswear designer Todd Snyder has opened his second NYC store, Todd Snyder at the Liquor Store.

Located at 235 West Broadway in the former home of J.Crew’s famed menswear haunt, Snyder’s presence at the Liquor Store introduces a new, highly-personalized shopping experience for the brand.

Part clubhouse, part clothing store, the Tribeca outpost is the purest distillation of the Todd Snyder brand, featuring VIP styling services and a smart mix of exclusive designs, limited-edition collaborations, bespoke suiting, curated accessories and grooming essentials. There’s also a rotating program of member events, from rare wine and whiskey tastings to intimate music listening parties and art exhibits, plus a selection of collectible records and books.

It’s all housed in a landmark 1809 building refurbished to embody Snyder’s English-meets-New York aesthetic: reclaimed French oak herringbone floors sourced by LV Wood; coffered walls and ceilings with a high-gloss lacquer in Snyder’s favorite shade, military olive; and proper European decor that bows down to the building’s original architecture. Everything is carefully chosen and ready for purchase, whether you’ve got your eye on their hand-picked assemblage of 1stdibs finds from the 1920s to mid-century or a vintage rug from ABC Carpet & Home.

“At the moment, the digital retail landscape simply cannot replicate the sensory experience of browsing a physical store, nor can it compete with the interpersonal touch of interacting with a human sales associate,” Snyder said. “Todd Snyder at the Liquor Store is a highly tailored re-imagination of the retail experience that seeks to remind our clients why there is no substitution.”
