Leading global events organization UBM plc has announced that menswear industry veteran Tommy Fazio will be returning to the UBM Fashion Group as Fashion Director, effective August 2. Fazio left the company briefly earlier this year to pursue consulting opportunities. Now that he has rejoined the UBM team, Fazio will continue to focus on creating a unified, high-growth Fashion Group following the acquisition of Business Journals.
“With the recent acquisitions and expansion of our fashion portfolio, we are lining up the strongest leadership team possible to ensure our buyers and brands continue to have the most tailored experience possible at our shows,” says Mike Alic, Managing Director, UBM Fashion Group. “Tommy’s deep experience in the industry combined with his keen ability to forecast trends will help us stay ahead of the curve and, in turn, helps our community grow and prosper. Our collective goal remains as crucial as ever: to bring together great brands and retailers in superbly merchandised shows, provide superior customer service, and ultimately present end consumers with the best apparel, footwear, accessories, and fashion products.”
“I’m thrilled to be taking on the role of Fashion Director for UBM’s Fashion Group,” adds Fazio. “What I can bring to the table is the ability to unify our direction as a whole while helping our brands define and sustain their unique value propositions for buyers and brands. We want to act small despite our dominant size in the industry. We want to drive the future of fashion events.”
Additionally, in response to the changing landscape of the retail business, the UBM Fashion Group has sent an open letter to the fashion industry explaining the benefits of the unification and new directions going forward.
