Uniqlo Looks To The Future And Banks On The Concept Of LifeWear
Uniqlo is one of the few brands that sit in a unique position of being accessible to everyone, but still maintaining the design clout to team up with fashion industry stalwarts such as German minimalist designer Jil Sander and French editrix Carine Roitfeld. Both have worked on capsule collections with the Japanese retailer. Sander’s +J collection has since completed its run, while Roitfeld’s third season will be arriving in stores this fall. The company recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of their first global flagship store in SoHo. The event drew the likes of Carol Lim and Humberto Leon of Opening Ceremony, who are also co-creative directors of Kenzo; Maxwell Osborne and Dao-Yi Chow of Public School, the duo also pull double duty as co-creative directors of DKNY; and retail executive and fashion investor Andrew Rosen, who founded Theory which is now a subsidiary of Uniqlo’s parent company, Fast Retailing.
