Vegas Highlights: Breuer and Dents
I stopped by the Bird Dog Group booth at MRket to see Breuer neckwear, where Jim McKenry showed me some beautiful blends in wool, silk and cotton ($135 retail). “Everything we’re doing is getting away from just silk,” he said, noting that there were more tweedy looks and denim friendly ties in the collection.
Also at Bird Dog was Dents, the English glove brand. I’m seeing more accessorizing in menswear lately, and gloves—particularly driving gloves in bright colors—make a nice sporty alternative to pocket squares or back pocket handkerchiefs. Dents’ deerskin driving gloves come in about six colors for $145 retail and the traditional leather driving gloves, which come in black, red or black with red piping, retail for $95.
Illustrating my point, David Hart showed driving gloves both worn and in jacket pockets in his fashion show earlier this month. And at another booth at MRket Las Vegas, Vicomte A, we spotted a couple of jackets styled with some gloves in-pocket.
