Want sustainable change? Convince your staff

Spurred by sustainably-minded leaders, brands including Lululemon and Lush are creating a virtuous cycle of personal growth and organisational change.

Sustainability initiatives start at the top, but, investing in personal growth and development for all employees can help foster more effective environments of change.

L’Occitane and Lush believe so. Both brands are trying to embed personal growth and development into their sustainability strategies to turn individual values into organisational change. Lush often closes its stores for climate strikes to encourage staff to join protests, and takes employees on trips to recycling facilities to show the impact of packaging policies, alongside more formal training. Meanwhile, Lululemon’s Impact Agenda will provide 40 hours of paid learning and volunteer time for all full-time employees by 2025. It also runs an annual paid Values Day for employees to invest time in themselves or their communities. Read more at Vogue Business.
