WELL SUITED, WELL PRICED!

by Karen Alberg Grossman

Several items jumped out at me when I wandered into the Tom Baine showroom at 525 Seventh Ave during New York market. Their new knit sport coat selection for Spring ’25 looked far more expensive than their tickets indicate: $45-$55 cost, retailing in some stores for $229. Features include soft shoulders, working buttonholes on the sleeves and contrast interiors. Also in this price range, some great seersucker sport coats in traditional stripes and fashion plaids.

I also liked a collection of lightweight knit crewnecks in soft neutral shades of blue, taupe, silver and navy, value priced at $18 cost for suggested retails $60-$79. Although many independent menswear stores are building the brand with the Tom Baine label, this NYC-based family business also offers a private label option with sufficient minimums.
