WILLY CHAVARRIA PARTNERS WITH ALLEN EDMONDS TO CREATE FIRST ICONIC SHOE

by John Russel Jones

Willy Chavarria, the 2023 CFDA Menswear Designer of the Year, has partnered
with legendary American shoemaker brand Allen Edmonds to create his first iconic shoe, The Jalisco. Working closely with the artisans and designers at
Allen Edmonds, Chavarria meticulously brought his vision to life. Drawing from archival lasts, he combined legacy constructions and details to create a boldly original style.

“I have always admired Allen Edmonds for their quality and craftsmanship but was truly blown away by what the artisans in Port Washington are capable of crafting,” said Chavarria. “I had no idea a luxury shoe of this caliber could be made here at home.”

The Jalisco is a split-toe Derby oxford with a Cuban heel that embodies a classic dress shoe design while pushing the boundaries of formality and gender. Chavarria envisions it as the new “unformal” shoe, transcending seasons, occasions, and gender boundaries. Every detail of the shoe reflects Chavarria’s precision and eye for detail, from the contoured inch heel to the gold foil W.C. initials on each shoe.

The Jalisco will be featured in Willy Chavarria’s Spring 2025 runway show during New York Fashion Week on September 6, 2024. It will be available at select Allen Edmonds stores and retailers globally in the Spring.
