Y-3 DEBUTS FIRST CHAPTER OF FALL 2021 COLLECTION

Y-3 returns for the first chapter of the brand’s fall/winter 2021 collection. Making the journey from the city into nature, the seasonal collection reimagines Y-3’s sporting codes, seamlessly infusing functional design with elevated stylistic elements. Kicking off the season with style, Chapter 1 of the collection sees Y-3 explore the concept of “Disappear” as the brand cloaks the wearer in camouflage prints and forward-thinking outdoor wear. 

Carefully crafted to face the wind and rain, the apparel offering simultaneously confronts nature and embraces it. Challenging traditional conventions of activewear by elevating performance-inspired designs through Yohji Yamamoto’s uniquely avant-garde lens, the apparel is defined by a spirit of purposeful beauty. Bringing the concept of “Disappear” to life through expressive knitwear, hoodies, trousers, and jackets, the pieces on offer have been integrated with functional blocking and ergonomic patterning. In addition, several looks have been infused with Y-3’s pioneering, and quintessentially artistic, take on a camouflage print. Alongside the apparel offering, the suite of accessories includes caps, beanies, Cordura bags, and a new iteration of the Y-3 tote. 

Building on Chapter 1’s explorative foray into the theme of disappearance, the footwear offering features striking silhouettes which have been infused with Y-3’s distinctive aesthetic codes. Fearlessly pushing the boundaries of footwear design, the chapter is highlighted by a number of bold updated takes on iconic Y-3 styles such as the Y-3 RUNNER 4D IOW, the Y-3 NOTOMA, the Y-3 ORISAN, the Y-3 KAIWA, the Y-3 SHIKU RUN, and the Y-3 HICHO, among others. The forward-thinking silhouettes are offered in classic black and white renditions as well as an evocative selection of Shadow Green and Semi-Frozen Yellow make-ups. 

Accompanying the launch of the first chapter of the Y-3 fall/winter 2021 collection is an immersive campaign that explores the dualities of concealment and exposure; innovation and beauty. Offering a visceral journey of escapism, the campaign transports the viewer to an alternate digital reality where the collection is showcased by models who have been 3-D scanned and transplanted into a luscious virtual forest.
