A NEW STUDY ASSESSES THE LUXURY GOODS BEST AT RETAINING THEIR VALUE
A recent study by a leather manufacturing company, NYC Leather Jackets, has ranked the fashion pieces that have gained the most value over the past decade, analyzing trends in resale appreciation, brand strength, and consumer demand. Data was gathered on the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) at launch, the initial model’s average resale price in 2025, Google search interest in 10 years, and MSRP change in the last 10 years.
These metrics were used to calculate price growth, interest growth, and MSRP percentage increase over the past 10 years. Each item was assigned a composite score based on these key factors, with higher scores indicating greater overall value appreciation and demand over the past decade.
The Dior Saddle Bag takes the top spot among the fashion pieces with the biggest value jump in 10 years, with a composite score of 99. It is the most recently introduced item in the top rankings. Over the past decade, the bag has experienced a 7400% increase in online search interest – the highest among all the fashion items analyzed.
The Rolex Submariner Watch ranks second among fashion products with the highest value growth in the last decade, earning a composite score of 94. The item was priced at $150 when it was first launched. Today, its initial model’s average resale price stands at $15,120, representing the highest price growth of 9980% among all the items studied.
The Hermès Kelly Bag ranks as the third stylish product with the highest appreciation in value over the last 10 years, scoring 53 on the composite index. Those looking to purchase the initial model should expect to pay an average of $37,548 today – the highest resale price for an original model in 2025.
The Omega Speedmaster Watch is the fourth fashion investment that gained the most value over the past decade, achieving a composite score of 33. The original model’s value has increased by 3,293% since its launch, making it the third-highest price growth among all items. The Omega Speedmaster Watch experiences one of the highest levels of popularity in 2025, with a Google search interest score of 84.
The Hermès Birkin Bag ranks as the fifth most appreciated fashion product over the past decade. Originally introduced at $2,000, it entered the market at the highest price among the items analyzed. The current price of a Hermès Birkin Bag stands at $13,300, making it the most expensive among all the fashion pieces.
The Louis Vuitton Keepall Bag holds the sixth spot among designer pieces, with the highest value growth over the past decade. The bag’s initial model is the longest-standing piece among the top-ranking items. With a price of $400 10 years ago, its value has now climbed to $2,440, recording the highest percentage increase over the past decade at 510%.
The Chanel 2.55 Bag holds the seventh spot among designer pieces that have seen the highest value growth in 10 years’ time. It had the highest Google search interest, scoring at 65, 10 years ago. Over this period, the bag experienced a 96.36% price increase, marking the third-largest price growth among the pieces studied.
The Fendi Baguette Bag ranks eighth among the stylish items that have experienced the greatest increase in value over the last decade. While its Google search interest stood at 6 in 2015, it rose to 97 in 2025, recording the second-highest growth rate in search interest over the past 10 years, behind only the Dior Saddle Bag.
The Cartier Love Bracelet ranks ninth among designer pieces that have seen the greatest increase in value. The initially released bracelet was priced at $250. Today, however, the original model is valued at $5,000, marking a 1,900% increase in price – one of the highest price growths among the items in the study.
The Gucci Jackie Bag concludes the list of fashion pieces with the highest value growth in 10 years. Similar to the Hermès Kelly Bag, it has seen a price increase of approximately 61% over the past decade. Today, the price of a newly produced Gucci Jackie Bag stands at $3,800. However, an original release is available for around $1,845.
Zaid Shaikh, A spokesperson from NYC Leather Jackets, commented on the study: “Factors such as brand heritage, limited production, celebrity influence, and increasing demand for vintage and archival designs all contribute to the rising prices of these iconic items. Additionally, the surge in online search interest suggests that consumers are becoming more aware of luxury fashion as an investment, not just a style statement. As a result, classic accessories from these brands are not only retaining their status symbols but also proving to be valuable assets over time.”
