ADSUM TEAMS WITH MERRELL FOR NEW SHOE SERIES

by Christopher Blomquist

Brooklyn-based menswear brand Adsum has launched a limited-edition collaboration with renowned outdoor footwear brand Merrell and the premiere style, which became available last Thursday, has already sold out on the Adsum website.

The shoe, called the Adsum/Merrell 1TRL Hut Moc is an ultralight slip-on with a perforated suede upper and collapsible heel section so it can be worn as a slipper or shoe. It also features a soft leather footbed and an EVA outsole thereby making it suitable for wear indoors or outside.

The shoe retailed for $100.

Two more shoe models from the collaboration will be available soon explained Adsum cofounder Pete Macnee.”We’ll be dropping three collab styles with Merrell over the coming months, all of which pay homage to the Adirondack Forty Sixers, an elite group of hikers that have reached the summit of all 46 peaks in the Adirondack park that are above 4,000 feet in elevation,” he said in a statement last week.

He added: “Today they’re one of the most iconic outdoor footwear brands in existence, but Merrell’s beginnings are actually quite humble. The company’s founder, Randy Merrell, was a cobbler and pedorthist who began making custom boots that were better suited to tackle America’s various terrains. And it all just took off from there.”

Founded in Brooklyn in 2015, Adsum makes men’s staples, technical outerwear and sportswear inspired by the cities and countryside of the US Northeast.

Merrell is best known for its hiking boots. It was founded in 1981 and has been a part of the Wolverine World Wide family of brands since 1997.
