ALANUI FINDS INSPIRATION IN THE AMERICAN WEST FOR SPRING

by Stephen Garner

For the spring/summer 2021 season, Alanui finds inspiration in the American West from “sweet dreams of wild horses running free through the Utah desert,” to “vibrant sunsets and sunrises in the orange light of Arizona’s Monument Valley.”

Celebrating the eternally charming beauty of the Western wonders, Alanui brings its knitwear experimentation to the next level by presenting a rich, charming collection playing with a desert-inspired iconography that is intertwined with a tennis inspiration.

In the women’s collection, a high-definition Monument Valley landscape is exquisitely rendered on the signature Icon cashmere cardigan, which also welcomes intricate handmade embroideries recreating peaceful canyon scenes.

Striped and graphic motifs are combined on fringed styles while running horses and the “Desert Mood” logo pops up on the back of a cardigan rendered in a warm color palette of mustard yellow, burgundy, and red.

The same charming Western mood is injected in the men’s collection, where the brand’s iconic cardigans reveal exquisitely crafted desert landscapes, as well as timeless graphic motifs and bandana patterns.

Tie-dye effects evoke desert’s mirages, while tennis-inspired cable-knit cardigans feature suede intarsia for a signature Western look.

A new playful logo patch steals the spotlight on relaxed sets crafted from cotton fancy yarns and eye-catching intarsia panels pop up on the back of denim trucker jackets.

Knitted polo shirts with fringed hems and lace-up detail at the neck are juxtaposed to stonewashed gingham linen shirts with detachable collars and light indigo and white denim pieces peppered by desert-inspired labels.

For the spring/summer 2021 season, Alanui continues its collaboration with Peanuts, resulting in cardigans and crewnecks injected with the American comic strip’s signature ironic and playful vibe.

In addition, Alanui unveils an exclusive partnership with Sebago. The Alanui x Sebago capsule consists of reinterpretations of the footwear label’s signature Docksides boat shoes, enriched with fringes and beads, and of the Dan loafers, which are decorated with scalloped details and a special lucky charm, the medal of Saint Christopher, the patron saint if travelers.

The cherry on top – the brand makes its debut in the world of homeware by introducing a capsule of luxurious and cozy blankets. For the launch, Alanui created five different styles, crafted from sustainable regenerated cashmere or virgin wool, that feature the collection’s signature desert landscapes matched with a Vichy pattern, or the label’s recognizable Icon graphic motif.
