AXEL ARIGATO LAUNCHES FIRST STORE IN NEW YORK CITY

Swedish brand Axel Arigato has opened its flagship store in New York City’s SoHo district, at 273 Lafayette Street, the brand’s first location in the United States. The store signals an expanded global vision for the brand, which celebrates its ten-year anniversary in 2024. The 1130 sq ft. space is at the street level of a classic converted SoHo cast iron red-brick building.

The store was created in partnership with Halleroed, an architectural design studio that has long been responsible for defining Axel’s stores across Europe. The design champions Axel Arigato’s roots and love of Scandinavian minimalism, an aesthetic that underpins the brand’s visual identity given its Swedish origin.

The collision of natural stone, man-made metal fixtures, and scaled materials has long punctuated Axel’s store sensibilities; NYC will continue to champion this European design nuance. The space will feature a mix of bespoke, European travertine monolithic podiums, bases on which to display its product, each flooded by natural light from floor-to-ceiling windows.

Additional hardware details come from a gridded spotlight system built into the ceiling. A unique speaker system built into the wall is a clever space saver to maximize capacity, and is a unique design detail that speaks to the brand’s roots in music and in-store live events.

The store will stock a range of iconic Axel Arigato footwear favorites, as well as select ready-to-wear pieces. These will be housed in an architectural space that reflects the brand’s gallery-like vision. The store is designed to be a go-to cultural hub, bringing together communities with one-of-a-kind events and activations across music, art, design and more.

The Axel Arigato NYC store will also stock a limited capsule collection designed exclusively for its New York visitors. The collection features black T-shirts, caps, grinders, and rolling trays emblazoned in collegiate ‘ARIGATO NYC’ fonts.

Axel Arigato will celebrate the launch with a series of unique events from September onwards, including music, art, and a selection of workshops.
