Baja East MinionsNew York-based luxury brand Baja East presented its spring/summer 2017 collection Friday evening, September 9, on the ground floor of Beekman Parking Garage in downtown NYC.

Designers Scott Studenberg and John Targon showcased women’s and men’s looks in the brand’s signature prints, and debuted a “see now, buy now” Baja East x Minions capsule collection within the show that was made available for purchase immediately following the show. Guests who stayed for the brand’s after-party on the roof of the parking garage had the opportunity to shop the collection from a merchandise truck.

The collection offers a full range of clothing for men and women, from luxe casual wear to active wear and swim, inspired by Illumination and Universal Pictures’ Despicable Me global film franchise.

“We are obsessed with creating new prints, and watching the Minions on film in various global locations served a constant source of inspiration,” said Studenberg. “Specifically, we fell in love with when they were wrapped in palm leaves and created a Jungle Palm print on a crepe fabric, that has a sexy sheer quality – perfect for easy day-pieces, like sleeveless button front shirts and kaftan dresses – perfect for city life in New York and travel to the Amalfi Coast.”

“The Minions love to have fun and as a brand that fits our DNA of not taking anything too seriously. Getting dressed should be fun and the spirit of the Minions is to try new things out,” added Targon. “We feel exactly the same and encourage everyone to give themselves permission to try something new, whether it’s a wrap skirt pant for a guy or a harem suiting for evening for a girl. It may be sexy and daring, but there is an excitement around this newfound confidence.”

Baja East x Minions is now available for purchase on Baja-East.com and at global luxury boutiques including Maxfield, Hirshleifers and 10 Corso Como.
