Bernie Sanders Knows He’s Menswear’s New Fashion Icon

Nothing is more emblematic of the weird times we’re living in than the fact that Senator Bernie Sanders is becoming an obsession for the fashion set (even if there’s a heavy dose of irony that goes along with it). For proof, look no further than the outspoken politician’s presidential campaign logo was appropriated at the Balenciaga Fall-Winter 2017 menswear show (ok, some other things are stranger, but still). But what could Bernie Sanders — the guns blazing socialist politician who’s much more concerned with income equality than a luxury brand co-opting his name to help sell four-figure garments — think of his newfound fame as a low-key fashion god? Well, he has a pretty good sense of humor about the whole thing. “I want to ask you about this bizarre sighting at Paris Fashion Week,” says CNN’s Jake Tapper before awkwardly pronouncing Balenciaga, as it’s likely the first time that word has ever crossed his lips. “There are a number of people, of models on a runway in Bernie clothes.
