BODEGA X TODD SNYDER ANNOUNCE CITY LIMITS COLLECTION
Todd Snyder has partnered with Boston-based Bodega on a limited-edition capsule that fuses classic symbols of vintage American field wear with contemporary functionality. The collection, titled “City Limits,” looks at the role of utility wear as it relates to one’s place in nature and the urban landscape. Whether you’re a staunch city dweller or full of wanderlust, this collection of cool-weather essentials serves as a sartorial compass to help you navigate from coast to coast.
“There’s a cross-country spirit about the collection, with motifs drawn from environmental elements, like train tracks, tree lines and even rusty camo,” says Drew White, Head Designer for Bodega. “The silhouettes have a familiar, heritage feel, with Bodega’s contemporary sense of function and Todd’s sartorial point of view woven throughout the collection.”
The partnership was unexpectedly born in fall of 2020 when Snyder partnered with Bodega on the campaigns that launched his highly successful L.L.Bean and Jack Purcell collaborations. In the years following, the duo struck up a friendship and their mutual appreciation of each other’s craft naturally led to the idea of a collab.
“Bodega is a best-in-class example of collaboration and curation. It was inspiring to watch the team bring their distinct point of view on design and style to bear in reimagining some of my classic silhouettes,” says Snyder. “When I look at the collection, I see and feel the perfect blend of both brands in each garment. Their versatility makes these pieces just as suitable for the city as they are for the country.”
The silhouettes include a reversible down bomber, Fair Isle crewneck, a matching corduroy shirt jacket and welder pant, and more. When designing, the duo dove into the function of each garment and paid the utmost attention to the finer details and fabric quality. “Growing up in the Northeast, the quilted jacket was an outerwear staple that got me through many winters. Our update makes this classic reversible, with an Italian heathered wool camo on one side and a quilted olive woven on the other,” says White. “We also incorporated plenty of pocket space in the garment, a common detail found throughout the collection.”
Within the context of “City Limits,” which pertains as much to the line between urban and natural as it does the line between average and extraordinary, the duo brought this collection to life by highlighting the artwork and style of The Perez Brothers. Born and raised in South Gate, California, Alejandro and Vicente Perez are twins turning their love of art — and their upbringing immersed in LA’s Low Rider culture — into a passionate painting practice. Their documentation of the environment they grew up in, suspended by time with their knack for freeze frames, is accentuated by stark white backgrounds. It’s a unique perspective that makes the collection feel right at home, thousands of miles away from what’s expected.
“Having formed a relationship with Todd Snyder and team over the years and supporting such memorable releases, this collaboration is both an homage to the Todd Snyder legacy and a fresh spin on these staple pieces through the Bodega lens, reinforcing the adaptability and versatility of both brands, and the communities that support our creations,” says Matthew Zaremba, Director of Marketing for Bodega.
