BULOVA CELEBRATES 150 YEARS WITH A DOCUMENTARY ON AMAZON PRIME
In celebration of its 150th anniversary, Bulova announced the national streaming debut of its commemorative documentary, America Telling Time: 150 Years of Bulova, now available on Amazon Prime Video.
The film offers an inside look at Bulova’s pioneering spirit, innovative milestones, and cultural impact over the past century and a half. The film also features notable commentary from music legends Nile Rodgers and Marc Anthony and more, all longtime partners of the brand.
“As we celebrate this monumental year for Bulova, we are excited to bring our journey through time to the homes of Amazon Prime Video viewers,” said Jeffrey Cohen, President of Citizen Watch America. “From launching the first-ever Veterans School of Watchmaking after WWII, to bold marketing campaigns like Equal Pay, Equal Time in the 1970s, Bulova has always stood for innovation with purpose. This film is a celebration of how far we’ve come, and a look at the future we’re shaping.”
Founded in 1875, Joseph Bulova launched his first storefront on Maiden Lane in Lower Manhattan. What followed was a legacy of firsts:
- The introduction of America’s first standardized mass watch production system, earning Bulova the nickname “Henry Ford of watchmaking.”
- The creation of the first line of women’s wristwatches in 1917.
- The debut of the first clock radio in 1928.
- And a media revolution, with the first national radio ad (1926) and the first-ever TV commercial (1941).
- In 1960, Bulova changed the way the world told time with the Accutron, the world’s first fully electronic watch.
- The introduction of the world’s first curved chronograph movement, CURV, featuring Bulova’s proprietary Precisionist technology in 2016.
Through the decades, Bulova has graced the wrists of iconic figures like Frank Sinatra, Carroll Shelby, Frank Lloyd Wright and continues to sponsor major global events like the Latin Grammys. During WWII, Bulova produced vital aviation instruments, and its watches were integral to NASA’s space missions, including the Apollo moon landings.
The documentary is part of a year-long celebration that will include limited-edition timepieces and tributes to Bulova’s most historically significant achievements, continuing to bridge the brand’s storied past with its forward-looking vision.
