CHRIS ECHEVARRIA OPENS 242 MULBERRY IN SOHO

by John Russel Jones

Chris Echevarria, founder of Blackstock & Weber, has opened his first retail space at 242 Mulberry in SoHo, New York. This new store, located in an area where Echevarria once worked on the retail floor, serves as a hub for Blackstock & Weber, Academy, General Store, and Echevarria’s collaborations, case studies, and personal projects.

The retail concept at 242 Mulberry includes apparel and footwear from Academy and Blackstock & Weber, as well as a selection of branded accessories, books, magazines, and vintage items curated by Echevarria. Additionally, the store features exclusive products from ’47 Brand, Max Pittion (John Mayer’s eyewear brand), and reworked Adidas Sambas and Birkenstocks from Goods + Services based in Los Angeles.

The space was designed by Hayley Bridget Interiors, a multi-disciplinary studio specializing in residential interior architecture and design. Principal designer Hayley Bridget Cavagnolo, who developed her skills at the Fashion Institute of Technology, has studios in Brooklyn and Westchester, N.Y. Her design aesthetic combines classic and traditional elements with a refined touch, creating a space that feels both shoppable and home-like.

Artwork from Michael C. Thorpe, Echevarrias’ friend and a painter who works with fabric and thread, adorns the store. Thorpe’s pieces have been included in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and various private collections nationwide.

Audio in the store is provided by custom walnut bookshelf speakers from Devon Ojas, known for high-efficiency speakers and low-powered tube amplifiers that deliver realistic, natural sound.
