CROCKETT & JONES TO LAUNCH ITS MOST FLEXIBLE LEATHER SOLE YET

by Stephen Garner

Footwear brand Crockett & Jones is slated to release its new “Unstructured” collection for spring/summer ‘21 next month. Available in April, the trio of new loafers will be sold on the brand’s first-ever e-commerce platform, which officially launched on March 8th.

The launch of the new collection coinciding with the introduction of its online shop makes it a particularly exciting time for the storied Northampton, England shoemaker that has been hit especially hard by the pandemic and the work-from-home lifestyle.

The new Unstructured collection features the brand’s exclusive “Superflex” leather sole. Developed over a period of 2 ½ years, in collaboration between the brand’s specialty leather sole tanners and its managing director, Jonathan Jones, the sole gave way to a well-timed development the company has been working towards for many years.

Its most flexible leather sole (ever), Crockett & Jones’ new Superflex construction is achieved by permeating the leather with waxes during the lengthy and highly-scientific tanning process, which results in a sole that’s extreme levels of comfort and grip.

Made in its own Northampton factory, the collection remains Goodyear welted using flexi-welts and lightweight ribbing. Utilizing the high quality and flexible nature of shoulder insoles (for their comfort and tight fiber structure), Crockett & Jones have also removed the toe box support while not affecting the excellent fitting qualities of its lasts.

Look out for all three styles from the new Unstructured collection, which retail for $550 each, next month.
