Curve Plans New York Lingerie Show
RIVERSIDE, CONN. – Curve Expo, Inc. will build upon CurveNV, its successful Las Vegas lingerie trade show, to launch a New York City show, CurveNY.
The Las Vegas show, which debuted last February, features men’s and women’s intimate apparel and swimwear. The show is expanding rapidly, show organizer Laurence Teinturier told MRkeplace.com: the first show featured 60 brands, and August’s show will have about 170 brands. The show’s success and the encouragement of vendors led CurveNV’s organizers, Laurence and her husband Jean-Luc Teinturier, to take on the East Coast.
“New York has more regional reach and Nevada has more national reach,” Laurence Teinturier said, adding that the major department stores are based in New York. There will also be an emphasis on smaller specialty stores. Boutique Lingerie founder Samantha Chang will have a special section for 40 smaller brands focused on the high end of the market.
The shows do not cater to the women’s market exclusively: “Thirty percent of women’s intimate apparel retailers do carry menswear,” said Ms. Teinturier.
CurveNY will debut at the Penn Plaza Pavilion during New York’s Fashion Week and the New York Intimate Apparel Market Week in February of 2008.
