DICKIES SUPPORTS SKATE COMMUNITY WITH 4DWN FILM PARTNERSHIP

by John Russel Jones

As a part of its continued investment in the skate community, Dickies is partnering with 4DWN Project Inc, a skatepark located in South Dallas and a 501c3 nonprofit corporation whose mission is fostering the sustainable health and well-being of kids, families, and the environment through programs emphasizing recreation, education, cultivation, and conservation. Dickies and 4DWN have partnered on a donation matching campaign, which kicked off yesterday for Giving Tuesday, in support of 4DWN’s ongoing work and to celebrate the release of a new documentary film. Dickies is matching up to $100K in donations to the non-profit.

The film, by award-winning director Danny Schmidt, showcases the inspiring and personal story of 4DWN, a skatepark located in South Dallas that strives to transform the lives of all who enter. As a resilience hub that integrates skate culture, 4DWN Project Inc addresses food insecurity and social justice in one of the city’s poorest neighborhoods.

Prior to the official release this week, the 4DWN film has been previewed at film festivals including Mountain Film, Tribeca Festival, 5Point Adventure Film Festival (where 4DWN won the audience award), Bentonville Film Festival, Indy Shorts International Film Festival, and Oak Cliff Film Festival in Dallas. Upcoming presentations of the film include Wild and Scenic Film Festival, DC Environmental Film Festival, and the Minnesota Film Festival.
