The Doneger Group has appointed Michelle Evans as executive vice president of merchandising. This is a new position for the company and a key leadership role. Evans will be a member of the company’s executive team and report directly to Abbey Doneger, president of The Doneger Group.

Evans will lead Doneger in its core merchandising advisory services including strategic merchandising direction and business analysis across women’s, men’s and children’s apparel and accessories. She will also oversee Directives West, the company’s Los Angeles-based merchandising team which provides industry analysis and extensive coverage on the West Coast lifestyle as it relates to retail, fashion, and the consumer.

Evans has nearly 20 years of extensive retail and merchandising experience. After starting her career in management consulting at Charles River Associates, she has worked across diverse business models from traditional luxury brands such as Tiffany & Co. to transformational e-commerce companies including flash-sales disrupter Gilt and social retail platform Chloe + Isabel. In her most recent role at conversational commerce start-up Jetblack, Evans led the merchandising team for its text-message based personal shopping service.

“Michelle is a seasoned executive with outstanding leadership skills and significant insight into the changing retail landscape,” said Doneger. “I am confident that our clients and Doneger team will benefit from her innovative and strategic thinking.”

Evans added, “I’m excited to collaborate with the unparalleled Doneger team and apply my unique experience at the intersection of fashion, analytics and technology to help our clients thrive in a dynamic retail environment.”
