DON’T TOSS YOUR OLD TIES YET!

by Karen Alberg Grossman

Not sure what to do with your unworn/unsold neckwear? I was recently overjoyed to discover a fabulous cityscape wall hanging and resplendent bed covering in the home of my good friends Burt and Cathy. These ties were ones that Burt wore in court during his tenure as a San Francisco attorney, now transformed into the New York City skyline by a talented quilter in Nashville. As a writer who’s first decade in the menswear business was all about ties, I was delighted to discover these beautiful neckwear-inspired works of art.

One caveat however: don’t allocate your entire tie collection to artistic endeavors just yet. Rumor has it that neckwear is on its way back. I, for one, look forward to celebrating this iconic emblem of class, creativity, and decorum.

  1. Definitely don’t throw out old ties.Especially wider ties of.9.5-10cm. Gentlemen who commission custom with wider lapels should wear such neckwear.
