On a quest to become the only social media giant consumers will ever need, Facebook has announced that it will be testing a few new ways to shop in its app. The company will be testing a new ad experience called Canvas that will allow users on desktop or mobile to click the “Buy” button in ads they see in their News Feed to purchase a product directly from a business, without leaving Facebook. After clicking on an ad, users will see a fast-loading, full-screen experience where they can browse through a variety of products, before going to the retailer’s website to purchase.

Facebook has also announced that it will be adding a Shop section to its Pages section of the site in order for Page owners to showcase their products to their followers. This will allow businesses to choose to have this section link to their own retail websites or to test a way for people to buy directly on their Facebook page.

The social media giant has also mentioned that it will be incorporating additional content into its user experience with items listed for sale in Facebook Groups. All of this is designed to make it easier for users to discover relevant products on mobile devices while also driving results for businesses.
