Facebook’s Ads Will Now Know What Stores You Go To

Brick-and-mortar retailers who advertise on Facebook can include an interactive map with details about their physical store locations to help users find them in person. Then, if a Facebook user actually visits the store, Facebook will use its users’ phone-location services to figure out how many people who saw an ad for a store ended up visiting. Advertisers will see the data, too, and the ultimate goal is for Facebook to work with brick-and-mortar retailers’ in-store sales systems to connect the purchases a user makes in a store with an ad a user saw on Facebook.
