GIANTS TEAM UP WITH STARTER ON “NYC LIGHTS” LEGACY COLLECTION
The New York Giants and Starter have announced a new multiyear partnership that includes the launch of an all-new limited edition “NYC Lights” apparel collection. The limited collection, which was designed to complement the Giants Legacy Games platform, includes a classic T-shirt, hoodie, and the iconic satin jacket. The collection is now available online at the official Giants shop and will also be available at the MetLife Stadium shop when the Giants take on the Green Bay Packers for Monday Night Football on December 11th.
Monday will be the second of two “Legacy Games” this season for the Giants when they will wear their classic blue uniforms from the ’80s and ’90s. In addition to the uniforms, “Legacy Games” include throwback stadium branding, activations, and giveaways.
To launch the limited collection, the Giants and Starter, in partnership with Cadillac, put a modern twist on the iconic “Badfellas” poster from the early ’90s featuring legends Lawrence Taylor, Carl Banks, and Pepper Johnson (at top). The “NYC Lights” campaign features current starting inside linebackers Bobby Okereke and Micah McFadden (above). Fans will have the opportunity to win exclusive Starter merchandise throughout the partnership by following Giants social media channels.
“From the time I was playing until now, Starter has made fandom fashionable, and the brand continues to make an impact on sports, entertainment, and culture, with its iconic silhouettes,” Starter President and Giants legend Carl Banks said. “We are excited to team up with the Giants to explore new ways to engage not only the athletes but the fans through custom merch collaborations.”
In addition to creating custom Giants apparel, Starter receives brand inclusion during player introductions at Giants home games at MetLife Stadium, as well as placement during preseason TV broadcasts. Throughout the 2023 season, Starter has collaborated with the team on the all-new “Giants Lounge”, presented by Cadillac, which hosts some of the biggest names in sports, entertainment, and lifestyle each gameday at MetLife Stadium.
“We are excited to continue building up our Legacy Platform with another Starter collaboration,” said Nilay Shah, Giants SVP of Marketing & Brand Strategy. “This limited capsule helps pay tribute to Giants history and is a great addition to the classic thematic of our Legacy Games. We look forward to continuing our work with Carl and Starter to bring fans these unique moments that live at the intersection of sports, entertainment, and lifestyle.”
As part of the partnership, and to highlight the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop, Banks sat down with music legends Rakim and Ed Lover to discuss the role Starter played in Hip-Hop culture and their undeniable fandom of the New York Giants. The podcast is now available across all Giants streaming platforms.
