GLENFIDDICH SINGLE MALT SCOTCH WHISKY AND SELVEDGE DENIM BRAND 3SIXTEEN DROP LIMITED-EDITION JACKET COLLAB

by John Russel Jones

Don’t drink and drive, but it’s okay to drink and (win) denim: To celebrate the launch of a limited-edition Grand Yozakura 29-Year-Old Scotch, Glenfiddich Single Malt Scotch Whisky has partnered with premier denim brand 3sixteen on a limited run of custom denim jackets. With hand-stitched embroidery reminiscent of Japanese sashiko repairs, the collaboration honors Japan’s cultural influence on the world. Perhaps best of all, the jackets are free! Well, sort of: The Glenfiddich x 3sixteen limited-edition custom denim jackets will only be available via a social media drop: Fans can re-share the collaborated post to their Instagram stories along with a comment with their size. To enter, go to @glenfiddichUS and/or @3sixteen.

Each of the limited-edition denim jackets is made in the USA and hand-embroidered by vintage retailer Raggedy Threads’ Jamie Wong. The design showcases 3sixteen’s signature broken stitch, outlining beautiful Sakura (cherry blossom) shapes. Paying homage to the tradition of Yozakura (a tribute to the viewing of Japanese cherry blossoms at night), the jackets’ denim holds a deep, inky black color complete with light pink or black stitching.

Grand Yozakura is a limited-edition 29-Year-Old Scotch whisky (45.1% ABV; $1,999) matured at the Glenfiddich Distillery in Dufftown and finished in oak casks that previously matured the oldest distilled alcoholic spirit in Japan, Awamori. With tastes of layers of toasted oak, creamy vanilla toffee, and silky tannin, the expression holds a long-lasting finish with sporadic bursts of spice and warm earthy tones.

Kampai!
