GUCCI EXPANDING PHYSICAL FOOTPRINT IN THE U.S. & ITALY

by Christopher Blomquist

Expect to see more of the Gucci name the next time you step out in New Jersey or Florence.

The Kering-owned Italian luxury brand has announced that it will open a standalone, two-story 10,000-square-foot store in the upscale Avenue section of the American Dream mall in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The move is a significant expansion from its current shop-in-shop in Saks Fifth Avenue there.

A scheduled date of the opening was not given but the news arrives just one day after Gucci announced it will open a cocktail bar in its native Florence in the coming weeks.

Gucci will join fellow luxury brands Hermès, Saint Laurent, Alexander Wang, Tiffany & Co (which opened there just last month) and more in The Avenue.

In addition, Saint Laurent, a fellow Kering brand, will soon enlarge its current presence at American Dream with a 7,000-square-foot store spanning two floors of The Avenue, creating its largest New Jersey location.
