HAPPY SOCKS LAUNCHES COLLECTION WITH MOROCCAN ARTIST HASSAN HAJJAJ
Happy Socks has teamed up with Andy Wahloo Apparel, acclaimed Moroccan artist Hassan Hajjaj’s clothing brand, to shine a light on the bright future of modern North African style and culture. The new limited-edition collection of socks, called “Straight Outta da Medina,” features playful designs that remix traditional North African sayings with contemporary pop culture and streetwear.
The Happy Socks x Andy Wahloo collection features four organic cotton crew socks and a unique 3-pack gift set. Its corresponding collection campaign was captured by Hassan at his home by bringing the designs to life on the feet of Gnawa dancers, traditional Moroccan performers, as they tap across tiles of the Medina.
Morrocan-born and London-raised since the age of 13, Hajjaj is a self-taught, versatile artist most known for his pop-artesque portraits in the streets of Marrakech. Influenced by London’s hip-hop and reggae scene and his North African heritage, he uses art, fashion, and culture to give a voice to those who have none.
Andy Wahloo Apparel (“I have nothing” in Arabic) is a clothing brand that goes above and beyond its label. It’s a platform aimed at bridging the gap between local artists and the international fashion industry. It embraces and celebrates Souk Wear, the new hip-hop generation’s voice and streetwear style from the Marrakech Medina, and Super-Lux. The maximalist approach features one-of-a-kind couture garments handmade by local Moroccan artisans.
The Happy Socks x Andy Wahloo collection is now available in Happy Socks’ Concept Stores, online at happysocks.com, and at selected retailers.
