HAPPY TIES ARE HERE TO BRIGHTEN YOUR DAY
[metaslider id=107174]
As opposed to all the serious but decidedly boring ties that currently dominate the neckwear scene, MMG has come out with a cheerful collection called Happy Ties. These are brightly colored better silks in fun designs (prints and wovens) with contrast tip and tail, ticketed at $50 retail. (Reversible bowties are also part of the collection.) MMG reports a successful launch at Belk, some good early reads at Bloomingdales and strong bookings from better specialty stores.
And according to MMG’s sales VP Dave Klaus, political ties from their American Lifestyle collection are also garnering a great response. Rather than being “divisive” with elephants and donkeys (retailers preferred not to go there), MMG opted for patriotic designs including eagles, flags and Lady Liberty-inspired artwork. Microfiber prints and wovens are ticketed at $30-$40 and will likely go out the door at $19.99. In addition to neckwear, sets pairing ties with socks, suspenders and silk pocket squares are also selling well.
Were it only so simple to “make America great again”…
Are men still wearing neckwear in 2016?
