Brooklyn-based menswear brand The Hill-Side has unveiled its new Bridge Mid sneaker, available now at thehill-side.com for $198, and at select The Hill-Side retailers worldwide.

For its debut, The Bridge Mid comes in natural duck canvas with dark navy tape and a limited-edition olive and black colorway, made in collaboration with Japanese brand Kaptain Sunshine. Both styles of The Bridge Mid feature canvas-backed foxing tape, herringbone pattern rubber outsole, and a single set of eyelets concealed under the elastic strap, built in Japan on the same last as the brand’s standard chukkas.

The Bridge Mid was inspired by a rare U.S. Military “delta shoe” that we found in a vintage shop in Tokyo, which features the same elastic and velcro strap closure. The delta shoe was issued to U.S. servicemen very briefly in the late 1960s and early 70s, and was used for wading in shallow water and as a non-combat shoe in wet and humid conditions.
