HOMME+FEMME ANNOUNCES SECOND PARTNERSHIP WITH CHURCHILL DOWNS FOR OFFICIAL KENTUCKY DERBY COLLECTION
Streetwear collection Homme+Femme has launched its second collaboration with Churchill Downs for the Kentucky Derby. The Black-owned brand is putting its mark on the historic event with a collection honoring African American horsemen’s history at the Derby. The collection includes Homme+Femme’s signature varsity jackets, traditional workout blazer cardigans, crewneck sweatshirts, tees, and hats, and is available to shop at Churchill Downs and through HommeFemme.com. Retails range from $65 for a cap to $600 for a varsity jacket.
“My experience at Churchill Downs and Louisville as a city in 2022 gave me so much inspiration that I was able to apply it to this year’s collection. I am beyond excited to continue to tell the story of the African American horseman and the African American community’s impact on the Derby through the clothing we have created,” says Homme+Femme Founder, Drew Evans.
In the brand’s second collection for the Derby, it is infusing the southern prep style known and loved by the event’s fans with Homme+Femme’s streetwear heritage to create an inclusive collection that merges the cultures.
“Being able to share our unknown African American History that our community may not have known about through expression and creativity means the world to me. So much history from the past goes forgotten and we are still impacting the Derby to this day. Our collaboration brings pride to our heritage, promotes winning, and excellence, and pushes Homme+Femme further in the prestigious luxury market that we are building towards,” Evans continued.
Fifteen of the first 28 Kentucky Derbies were won by Black jockeys. As a Black-owned brand, Homme+Femme pulls inspiration from this rich history to create a collection that celebrates diversity and inclusiveness. Homme+Femme and Churchill Downs brought their unique points of view together to curate a collection that is a modern take on a prestigious institution, giving an opportunity to break barriers in the sport through fashion.
“Collaborating with Churchill Downs means a lot to me, and the brand is one of the most prestigious and historic sporting institutes in the world. It’s a world of its own on that first Friday and Saturday of May at Churchill Downs. Only a few chosen brands are able to participate and for them to work with us and give us an opportunity for the second time continues to put confidence into me and my team,” adds Evans.
