In the Market: Lacoste and Luxottica

by Elise Diamantini

Lacoste
For those who may have missed the Lacoste runway show during New York Fashion Week, the company showed that collection, as well its other brand offerings during the press preview this week. They told us that many more pieces from the runway collection would be put in to production than any other season and stores like Saks picked it up. Retail price points range from around $120 to just under $600.

Lacoste also showed its “made in France” capsule of knits, manufactured in the same factory as the first polo shirt the company ever created.

Underwear is a new category for spring 2015, and Lacoste is offering three different collections: the Pique collection (60/40 cotton/rayon blend featuring underwear, shirts and lounge pants/shorts), the Colors collection (fun prints and colors for a younger demographic) and the Motion collection (micro-mesh and wicking properties).

Luxottica
The Luxottica preview did not disappoint: showing the best from designer brands like Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Giorgio Armani, etc. Details like matte finishing, fabric detail (like denim) infused on frames and super lightweight materials emerged as clear trends in eyewear for spring 2015.
