INSPIRATION AND EXCITEMENT IN JUNE AT PITTI UOMO 102

At Friday’s NYC press luncheon at Locanda Verde, hosted by Pitti Uomo’s charming CEO Raffaello Napoleone, editors and industry notables got a delicious taste of what’s to come at this summer’s Pitti Uomo, the global menswear extravaganza that sets the standard for creativity and commerce. To be held June 14-17 at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence, the show features a broad range of men’s fashion from Classic Sartorial to Street, always with artistry, poetry, history, social commentary, and a glimpse into the future.

The overall theme of the upcoming show is Welcome to PITTI_ISLAND, an imaginary place connected to the world in a process of constant exchange. Five sections will reflect the various ‘souls’ of contemporary menswear: Fantastic Classic, Dynamic Attitude, Superstyling, Future Maschile, and S/Style—a special Pitti Foundation project dedicated to sustainability and responsible menswear. 

The show’s guest designer is Grace Wale Bonner, the Anglo-Jamaican artiste who will host a runway presentation of her spring 2023 collection. Ann Demeulemeester is Pitti’s guest of honor who will curate a special showing at the Stazione Leopolda. Other notable events include a fashion show by SOULLAND, Silas Oda Adler’s collection out of Copenhagen, and a gallery showing by Giulio Sapio, designer of the SAPIO collection. 

The excitement continues with special projects from celebrated and lesser-known brands including Roy Rogers, WP Lavori, Incotex Blue, Pierre Louis Mascia, Tateossian, Fila, and Goretex. A special Scandinavian Manifesto with feature collections from Denmark, Sweden and Norway. And of much importance, to spotlight the fashion talents of Ukraine, the next Pitti Uomo will feature a collection of Ukrainian designers invited to Florence to show their collections at the celebrated Fortezza de Basso.
