Isabel Marant’s First Menswear Collection Is Already A Hit

Beloved women’s designer Isabel Marant presented her first men’s collection during Paris Fashion Week on Thursday. Watching the show brought us back to this time last year, when Stella McCartney, another European designer also known for her cool-girl following and masculine/feminine designs, branched into menswear herself. McCartney’s menswear is a mix of all the best parts of British fashion—the tailoring, the punk spirit, the Rocco Ritchie–ness—and was immediately embraced by fashion veterans, celebrities, and hypebeasts alike. Marant’s offering has its own blend of sportiness and luxury. And it feels equally likely to ignite a fury of street-style and social-media flexes once it hits stores. The eight men’s looks on Marant’s runway were packed with must-cop items guys already can’t get enough of right now, stuff like oversize sweaters, wind pants, ’70s outerwear, and pool slides.
