Isabel Marant’s Menswear Collection Is Worth The 20 Year wait

by MR Magazine Staff

Isabel Marant has been cutting some of the coolest women’s clothes on the French fashion scene since 1994 – and now, after dabbling with menswear for her 2013 collaboration with H&M, she’s delivering her first full-blown collection for us guys too. Back in September last year, the designer showed her first men’s looks woven into her Spring/Summer 2018 womenswear catwalk in Paris. These eight outfits were designed to show just how easily Marant’s signature sleek-bohemian vibe could translate into menswear. There were bang-on-trend 90s elements (pull-over windbreakers, oversized grungey jumpers, puffa jackets) and perennially cool sporty touches (pool slides, shell suit-style joggers, gilets), all in a jazzy-yet-muted palette of navy, black, dark pink and dark red, with zings of purple and flashes of silver. Throw in a few chest-exposing vests that would make any man want to hit chest press immediately, and you’ve got a collection that felt youthful, cool and – dare we say it – sexy.
